From Podcamp to Podcamp
So, like I was saying, Podcamp Ohio '08. Oh, wait, it's been so long since my last post that we're already getting ready for '09! I've just changed the banner currently on the right-hand side from last year's un-conference to this year's. I have a feeling that I'll enjoy this year even more than last year, if for no other reason than that I now have an iPhone and a new unibody Macbook, so I'll be able to be far more connected and geeky than last year when I only had a flip phone with horrible mobile web capabilities (which I was trying to use for Twitter) and a very old, big, creaky-plastic laptop with poor battery life. Now if I can just start podcasting ....
In other news, I'm trying to make a "new media" comeback. Ever since I started working in a local indie coffeehouse in late April of last year, life has been crazy in one way or another. My RSS subscriptions in Google Reader were so out of control, even while I was unemployed, that once I got a job I basically quit going to Reader. I even quit reading the blogs of friends and family, and I feel I've missed a great deal that I wish I hadn't. Everything else, I've learned, wasn't as essential to my life as I thought (including my podcast backlog). Still, I want some of these things back, in moderation. I'm also going to start producing content again. My blog may be insignificant, but at least I have a way to publish whatever I want to. Twitter is all I've had time or inclination to use--plus I've been confused about where to post photos, for example (Picasa Web Albums, Flickr, Facebook, SmugMug, some combination?)--but I've already this week started posting to The Tumblelog of Phlegon again. I think I'm going to switch to SmugMug as the primary holder of my photos.
I think that's all I've got at this late blogging hour. Half of what I've written probably doesn't make sense as it is, or at least needs to be rewritten, but if I'm ever going to get moving again, I need to just post.
